Jane Fogarty graduated with a BA(Hons)Fine Art from DIT in 2010. From July 2010- June 2011 Jane completed a one year residency at Talbot Gallery and Studio where she was awarded the Most Promising Graduate award 2010. This residency culminated in Janes first solo show. Jane was also awarded the RC Lewis Crosby award for painting in the RDS student art awards 2010 and was chosen to represent Ireland to the European League of Institutes of Arts in the NEU/NOW live festival Nantes.

My work roots itself in the realm of painting, exploring the ontology and materiality of the medium. The work manifests itself in many forms including installation, artist books, sculpture and drawing, with a strong emphasis placed on the process of creation. Strict methodologies are utilised to explore the individual elements involved in creating a work. Importance is placed on the material, support, action, time and product. I believe that it is through this process that the work becomes greater than the sum of its parts. The work is often distinguished by its emphasis on touch, it maintains a clear status as the product of human hands.
